Hoping for advise... my husband wants to put commercial tires on my precious 2002 Camry 200,000.00 kms.
Help me out here... I researched online and hear that it is a rougher ride plus it could also mess up my suspension.
My last Camry was still going strong @400,000.00 kms so hoping to get the same on this one.
Any advise???
Stick to normal tires
Put correct size all season tires and you are fine.
Scotty's made this point, many times. The vehicle is designed for a specific tire size. There's geometry and physics at play in the decision to use normal tires. Any deviation creates stresses for the shocks, struts, axles, etc., all of which will shorten their life. Especially on a Camry with 200,000 km (I'm assuming that it's at least seven or eight years old, at the minimum) will create stress on parts that have traversed that many kilometers, already subjected to much stress, over their life.
Brands are a bit subjective, depending on what one wants in a tire. I'm partial to Michelin Premiers, which can be safely driven down to 2/32, because of a second layer of tire that is harder than the first, with wider chevron like grooves.
Not just no, but heck NO!! stick with normal tires. We always put all-season tires on, they last longer than summer only tires.
