2003 Corolla 225k km, is this the end?

My mechanic says the front is rotting out. Needs sub frame, control arms and oil pan replaced due to rust. This and a brake job soon suggests >$2000 to keep it safe.

I’m the second owner and have owned the car for 15 years.  Changed oil frequently, replaced gas tank and sending unit and a few normal maintenance items.  Runs great. It’s automatic transmission. Body has numerous bumps and bruises from two kids and high school parking lots 😉. My daughter drives it now, an A to B car for groceries and a couple of weekend trips. Maybe wants three more years of use averaging 1000 Kms /month

Option 1. Fix it and keep it going.

Option 2. Local used car dealer has 2012 Civic EX-L (AT) with 190k kms for $8000. He’ll give me $500 on the Corolla

Option 3. Private seller has 2012 Honda Fit (AT) with 140k kms for $8000. Made in China!! Has New AC compressor. But I’d need to sell the Corolla as is myself.

I’d want three more years on the Corolla, and five years on the Honda’s.

what option would you choose?

It's only $2,000 now, but it'll be more soon. It had a good run, but nature has run its course.
