Hello! My Civic has been pretty much trouble free for it's 200,000 miles (other than a radiator last year). All of a sudden, while driving home from work I had a difficult time shifting through the gears. By the time I got home, I could barely shift into 1st gear and the car made an awful grinding noise. I assume that my clutch went out, but I was wondering if I had transmission issues as well. Since the car is 18 years old, would it be worth getting repaired? How much would repairs range?
Thank you!!
It sounds like a stick shift but can you clarify if its an automatic or manual transmission?
If it is manual, see if you can put in gears while the car is off, if so, your clutch needs replacement. If not, then we talk about transmission issues.
Thank you for the reply. I was able to put it in all of the gears while the engine was off. Now, I have to decide if it is worth it to have it repaired...
