I have a 2003 Jeep Wrangler(The manual 4.0 inline 6 cylinder) that I bought about 7 months ago from my grandma. The day I picked the Jeep up, it started making a loud ringing/whistling noise whenever I was not pressing on the gas. The noise is piercing and only comes on when I am not pressing on the gas. It comes off and on, though sometimes it’ll go weeks without making the noise, and suddenly come back. I have a feeling that it is the clutch throw-out bearing though I am not sure. Any advice on what it is and how to fix it?
Well many things can make noises. You have to pinpoint the sound. It would be coming from between the engine and transmission. If it was the clutch or say it was whistling from a bad PCV valve would be coming off the engine. Watch my video finding the source of car noises. Scotty
