HELLO MY 2003 MACH 1 WITH 167000 MILES WAS IDLING A LITTLE ROUGH. RECENTLY IT STALLED OUT AND UPON RESTART WAS FINE. TWO DAYS AGO SAME ISSUE EXCEPT IT WOULD NOT RESTART. REPAIR SHOP SAYS BLOWN HEAD GASKET. I DROVE IT HOME AND AFTER 20 MINS IT WAS ROUGH RUNNING WITH POWER LOSS. THE WATER PUMP SEEMS TO BE LEAKING SLIGHTLY. CAN YOU TELL ME HOW I CAN BE SURE ITS THE HEAD GASKET?.

Get a compression test and see if there is opaque white smoke coming out the tail pipe. You could also get a test kit at the auto parts store.

You can easily go to any auto parts store and buy a kit to test it yourself.
