I have a 2004 buick park avenue with 192,000 on it....and I keep getting a message on the digital dash that says service stability system...I'm not sure what the deal is. I know my steering wheel is hard to turn at times and I think rack and pinion has a slight leak in it....could this be rack....and if so how big of a job is it?

Get it scanned for codes first. That should point you in the right direction. For the PS leak, if it is from the rack and pinion, expect the replacement cost to be a could hundred bucks, if not you can just live without power steering lol. It's not that big of a job to do and it can be done with a bit of knowhow in a backyard setting but only if you are experienced or have someone guiding you.
