Asking for family member. Looking at a 2004 Escalade with 187k miles, asking $3,500. I heard the 6.0L is a great engine and can last long time. Thanks for the feedback.
That is a lot of miles and the guy is asking too much for it. If they won't lower the price, walk away.
Pass.
Even if the engine is OK and given that it was built before GM went bankrupt, there are so many things to go wrong on an 18-year-old Escalade that it's almost 100% guaranteed to be a money pit. Run away.
We have a 06 Yukon, very similar vehicle, and its been reliable so far. HOWEVER, it has less than half those miles. I can tell you that the transmission on that car has either been replaced or is going out soon. The 6.0 is extremely durable if maintained properly, but its probably burning oil at this point. Theres also alot of fancy features/ electronics in that thing that are probably not working right anymore either. I like both this generation of GM vehicles and this particular platform, but its a gamble for sure. An 18 year old Cadillac can chew thru money, fast. The gauge clusters on those are known to go out also (at least the chevy & GM models). Have a mechanic look at it, if it doesnt have serious issues (rust/trans/engine/electronics), 3500 isnt much for a car today.
No.
Pass on it. There is a high likelihood you will spend many thousands in repairs to get it up to speed.
