Friend wants to sell me his mom's old car-2004 Honda Accord EX 4 cyl-91K miles- She worked 15 miles from her home. She passed away and everyone in his family has a car. I ve heard that the 2003 model has had transmission problems starting at 97K miles to 110K miles. Is the 2004 having the same problems and can you prevent them? Also, this car takes 5W20 oil-it appears Honda oil is a synthetic blend. Can I put 5w20 full synthetic in it like Mobil 1 or Castrol Edge/Magnatec or will that mess up the engine. The 2004 Honda Accord is not any better. Honda's reliability goes back and forth even before recent news. I would look at something else.
