It’s public. It’s only private if you see a private tag in your title.

Also please don’t triple post the same question. It’s against forum rules, thank you.

The S-Class are AWESOME cars. If you buy new and lease.

Buying an old S-Class is a terrific way to go broke and have a nice lawn ornament.

Have you priced parts for it? Trust me, I work on MB cars, particularly S-Class and AMG cars, every day.

Price out a transmission and see if you still have an interest.

I actually love the S-Class, but would never, EVER own one out of warranty. There are repairs to that car that cost more than my 2020 Accord's MSRP. It is crazy.

The Mercedes S430 was the base (cheapest) S class in North America back in 2004:  I presume you are referring to that.  Unless you are intimately familiar with how those vehicles work (almost to the point of being a pseudo- Mercedes mechanic), plan to do all the work yourself, and know where to get parts - I would pass on it.  Even then, you would need a chunk of money set aside for repairs.  It’s not for the faint of heart (and money).  Unless you are CarWizard or LegitStreetCars, I would not think about it.

Already money pits and being flagship Mercedes, too expensive to do any sort of job on this car.
