I put a new power steering pump on my car, turned the steering wheels several time and then started it up and now fuild is spraying all over the top and bottom of the engine. Could it be the pressure hose? Its not a leak its a spray and it covers everything and continues to leak several minutes after the car is off. Thank you
Usually it only sprays like that when system is pressurized. You might have a crack in a hose/line someplace. Have someone start car and turn wheel as you look for the leak. You might only find leak when pressurized. First look at the pump area, that is the most likely spot. If you can't find any leaks you will need to examine every single line/hose top to bottom including the pump, rack and the reservoir. It is possible you have air in system and fluid is blowing past cap or you have a crack in reservoir.
So first start at the basic have someone turn wheel as you inspect everything. Chance are you won't see were it's coming from until the system is under pressure.
The cap has a crack in it. I wasn't sure if the reservoir had pressure build-up.
It's always the little things right. Happy you figured out what's wrong.
Thank you.......I wish, but not always. I bought this car from people that couldnt get it to rn right. It took me $1000 to replace all the sensors, valves, coils, wires and plugs. Then it need tires so I got 4 new ones, then it needed a battery. When I put the new battery in, the alternator when out. Then it started overheating. I changed the thermostat then the water pump went out. I started hearing a clicking noise when I turned the wheels and my traction anti-slip light came on. I unhooked the ABS and the noise quit and it drives fine, just no ani-skid. The starter is ons its way out and the sensor is bad in the tank for the fuel pump, so it reads full. I am 60 and disabled but with the high cost of things, I have tried to replace all this on my own, so its been challenging.
Unfortunately everything decided to go wrong . The original owners never did any maintenance now your stuck replacing everything.. Learning how to do the work yourself will definitely save you money. I know disability doesn't pay out that much and the health care they give you isnt good either.
