2004 RAM 1500 5.7 RWD Auto 545RFE 149,000 miles. Sentry Key Theft Deterrent System, no aftermarket anti-theft devices. Engine dies while driving or idling. When driving the engine just cuts out but then continues to run. When engine dies while idling, simply turning key to start will restart the engine (trans in P or N). No error codes. Dash gauges do not reset or turn off as if the ignition switch is turned off. Fuel pressure at 47psi when engine shuts down. The only thing I’ve noticed and am not sure if it is normal – when monitoring the Absolute Throttle Position in live view, it constantly fluctuates between 0 & 12.5% when idling. Replaced Cam Position Sensor, EGR valve (because threads stripped out), and relay for ECM. No new electronic devices have been installed or other changes. Engine runs well with no unusual sounds otherwise. dies without error codes
Do the simple stuff first: Load test the battery and alternator. Inspect the air filter and replace if needed.
Then test the fuel pump and see if it's going out.
