I have a 2004 Sienna 194k miles, it does a strange bump/hard shift and rpms go up slightly when shifting 3-4. This seems to be only in 2300-2700rpm range, if I make it shift higher, say 3000rpm, or lower, under 2300, it shifts ok. I can’t get it to do this when shifting manually. Only in the last few months has this been happening and only intermittently, not every shift, but it is becoming more frequent. No service has been done in the last 15k miles on this transmission. Do you have any suggestions? Is this a common issue? https://youtu.be/ClOq5Fx4huE
When was the last time you changed the transmission fluid? What condition is it in now? Any codes?
No codes at all, transmission fluid changed about 20k miles ago.
The first thing I’d do is change the trans fluid if you haven’t done so in the last 30k or so. Hard shifting like that often means your trans is starting to go out unfortunately.
