Hi Scotty,

My 2004 toyota prius coolant surge up after running? Can I flush the coolant and drive the car without a thermostat? what do I do? Should I replace the water pump next?

I wish you can share some experience to my email: (email address was removed) I wish you live in Washington state too.

The coolant will expand when hot.  Fill your reservoir with coolant to the max (full) line only when the engine is hot.  It will go down again when it's cooled off and back up again when it's hot.

Check for a blown head gasket.

You will also get a major "surge" if you have not removed all the air from the system after changing coolant.
