I have a 2004 Trailblazer with a 4L60E transmission. When the transmission gets hot under normal driving conditions it stops working. When cold it works fine! I'm thinking that the shift solenoids need to be replaced? Thank You for your advice!
it will not move in reverse or forward at all. It has to set for a few hours before it will move. Transmission fluid is full!
Have you changed the fluid on time? Also would like clarification on "stops working". Is it slipping or grinding, or just totally stranding you?
yes, fluid and filter have been changed on time. it will not move in reverse or forward at all. It has to set for a few hours before it will move. Transmission fluid is full!
That sounds like a major internal failure. You probably will need a new transmission. I would take it to a transmission shop and see what they diagnose it as.
there are no fault codes showing for the tranny
Just because there are no codes showing does not mean there isn't a physical internal problem. I would definitely have a transmission specialist give you a diagnosis on it.
ok, it works fine so long as trans is cold. but once it gets hot it will not move.
I agree with Mod_Man. That sounds like a failed transmission.
It is possible that the torque converter is bad but in all likelihood it has a bad transmission.
