Hello I have a 2005 chevy malibu this don’t bother me but I realized when I shift my car to L it’s stuck on 3. I bring it to 1 but when I put it from D to L it goes back to 3. Same when I put shift up to 4 it goes back to 3, I am at stand still what’s this cause I’ve been trying to figure it out for years.

It's available you're lucky to transmission is working at all live with it it's just has problems with either the transmission range sensor or the computer control module or even internal transmission wear if it's just normally and drive live with it believe me I think probably nearing the end of its lifespan anyway
