My van has a lifter pecking...does that hurt it or matter??? It runs ok....has 207,000

If you're talking about "ticking lifter" new ones (hydraulic roller) are available from O'Reilly Auto Parts for $12.99 each. Just soak them in a coffee can full of oil over night before replacing them.
Does it hurt to drive it that way

It doesn't really hurt, but it means you probably have a collapsed lifter(s) and the engine will not be operating efficiently.
