My dad recently passed away and I'm thinking about keeping his 2005 Lexus ES330 (almost identical to your wife's!), both for sentimental reasons and because it's just plain in great shape. Less than 65,000 miles, always garage kept, etc. Unfortunately, in the last few years of his failing health, the maintenance slipped a bit. Just wondering what you'd recommend I do/check before taking it on? I know an oil change is in order, but what else?

I suggest you go through maintenance manual to see what needs to be done! Definitely automatic transmission fluid if it wasn't changed yet!

Make sure that you change the timing belt as well. Those are interference engine.
