Hey Scotty, greetings all the way from Belize, I have a automatic 2005 Chevy Malibu ecotec 2.2L I4, with 146,000 miles, and sometimes when I drive on the highway the engine suddenly shuts off, I do maintance to time and took it to several mechanics but none of them can find the problem. One told me I had a bad catalytic converter so I made them do a cat delete, another mechanic told me I need a new fuel pump so I replaced that but every now and then the engine still shuts off while driving, all the lights stay on when the engine shuts off, but all the doors also unlock when it shuts off.

I would start with load test the battery and alternator and also check the ignition switch.
