My 2005 Mercury Monterey 4.2L with 94,000 miles sputters/misfires when cruising at 45-55. Press the gas pedal & runs smoother under acceleration. Runs smooth at idle. No engine light or codes, but tester read 29 misfires while driving. I changed plugs, wires & coil with no resolution. 5 mechanics have looked, driven and tested, but 🤷♀️. Please help.

You said nothing about the air and fuel filters - how old are they? (Hopefully not 18 years.) Was fuel pressure tested? Since apparently a scanner was used while the problem was happening and misfires were reported, what else was in the live data that looks suspicious?
