MY son is looking at his first car, he is looking at a 2005 Nissan Murano with 138,000 miles, looks clean, for $4,000. Seller states "Shifter gear intermittently gets stuck but can override it with the shift lock". I know they mean it doesn't always get out of park and you can depress the shift lock to get it unstuck. Myt question is - what could cause this, what would it take to fix it and would you consider this a deal breaker for the purchase?

a bad brake switch could cause this
