I have a 2006 ford 500 with 268,000 it won't start and it smelled like gas if put your foot on the gas and try to start it

Does it try to crank at all? If you are mashing the gas, then trying to start it you might smell fuel because you are flooding the engine. You should not have to press the gas to get it to fire over.
With that mileage, there are a lot of issues it could be. Spark plugs, fuel filter, etc. Make sure to check the easy stuff first. Now, if it isn't cranking at all, could be the battery or starter motor. Just hard to narrow it down without a little more information.
