2006 Ford F-150 with V6 Essex engine

Hello there

Was  the Ford Essex V6 engine with manual transmission a reliable pair?  I’m looking at one with only 125,000 km but driven locally in rural areas.  Apparently it needs a lot of front end and brake work.

Thank you.

They were pretty reliable like any Ford things break but if you maintain them they tend to last quite some time a lot longer than that mileage

Thanks Scotty! Good to know since it looks like this Engine was made in Canada. Great forum and channel, even got my wife watching.

Yeah the 4.2L V6 engines are good. Those Ford Essex engines don't make a lot of power, but they can go over 300k miles if taken care of. They are pushrod engines, they do not have timing chain or cam phaser problems like the overhead cam 3V V8 engines do.
