Our 2006 Honda Accord with a little over 150,000 miles has an occasional stutter between 30-40 mph. Took the car to my mechanic and he scanned it and there were no codes. He suggested that I have a transmission shop look at it and recommended a place.
They checked out the car and found no codes, they took it for a road test and experienced the issue we were having. They told me that it is most likely the torque converter wearing out and that on Honda’s you cannot just replace the torque converter you have to replace and/or rebuild the transmission which is almost $3,000 (they will guarantee their work for three years).
Is that true you cannot just replace the torque converter on Honda’s? I am not sure what to do with the car, sell it and find something else which is difficult in this market. Just keep driving the car until it dies or bite the bullet and get it repaired since the rest of the car is fine.
I think I would just live with the occasional stutter. At least until I found something better that I wanted to buy.
