Whether it’s a first car or an Nth car, always avoid one with a salvage title.  Otherwise, the IS350 were good, reliable cars.  As a first car, your insurance will be higher, and being a Lexus maintenance/repairs will also be higher.  See below on salvage titles:

The IS itself is a good car. But 2 problems immediately come to my eyes:

1. The price is on par with clean titles, salvage title cars are basically worthless

2. Salvage title cars generally have electrical and mechanical issues that pop up months or years after you buy it. They are unpredictable. Scotty once was scanning a salvage Corolla and found that one thing didn't match up with the other thing and the codes weren't being picked up and all that stuff.

If it was minor damage lets say from hail damage and it totalled it because its so old, then for half the price it might have been worth a shot. In this scenario, no.

Good luck!

Avoid it.
