My Dad is thinking about buying a 2006 Mercedes SL from the dealership with 75,000 miles for $21,000 dollars. I'm trying to convince him to get a Lexus, but he's not listening. Can you share your thoughts on the SL, and what Lexus would be comparable? Thank you!

Those SL's are nice cars, but let me tell you....when something breaks, you better have a fund set aside to cover it. ESPECIALLY if it is an AMG model.
No joke, I've had repair bills for customers that were higher than what he is looking at for the purchase price. And Mercedes do NOT get better with age.
The comparable Lexus would be LC430. If he ended up getting the Mercedes, have him buy the car with the extended warranty preferably bumper to bumper. It is a must for a used higher level Mercedes.
Endless money pit that Mercedes. It would cost your Dad less if he just bought a boat.
