Hey Scotty, I’ve got a 2006 Nissan Xterra Off Road with 224k miles. I’ve had it for almost a year now and I love the car, it’s perfect for what I need and has been extremely reliable. Yesterday, I filled up my tank and started driving home. I was stuck behind a big rig so I accelerated and passed them up. Right after I accelerated and got back in my lane my check engine light started blinking. I continued to drive for about 5-10 minutes until I realized that it felt pretty bumpy as I was going down the road, it felt way different then it normally does. So I pulled over and shut off the car. I pulled out the owners Manual and read that the blinking Service Engine Soon light was telling me that something was “misfiring” in the Emission Control System. I got out and checked if my gas cap was on correctly since I had just filled up my tank and it was, so I tightened it again and started driving home. Whenever I would go over 40mph it would start to feel super bumpy, so I drove slowly all the way home. Got home and parked it and I haven’t driven it since yesterday because when I started it to drive to work this morning it felt shaky and I did not feel comfortable driving it. Don’t want to do further damage… I love the car and don’t have a shit ton of money right now so I’m not sure what to do.
