I’ve got a 2006 Toyota RAV4 2.4L with 183K miles. It burns/leaks oil periodically. I plan to replace the valve cover gasket and the PCV Valve and was also going to do an oil change. The car has always used conventional 5W20. The oil cap also says you can use 0w20 as well, and I have some extra 0w20 laying around. Would using the synthetic 0w20 hurt anything? And I live in south texas so it’s warm here 99.9% of the time
Use what your owner's manual recommends for the ambient temperature you drive in. The oil cap could be off another engine. If you don't have the actual manual, you can get it free online.
Would using the synthetic 0w20 hurt anything?
No, in fact 0w20 is better for your engine on startups than 5w20. It'll get flowing quicker than 5w20, especially in colder temps.
