My Saturn ion doesn’t blow cold when I have the air conditioner on and my check gas cap caused my engine light to come on. How can I fix this

Any number of things might be wrong with your air conditioner from low refrigerant to bad compressor or an electrical problem. To fix it you first need to diagnose it. Does the compressor run at all? Have you hooked up a manifold gauge set to check system pressures?
If your check engine light came on due to a loose gas cap, properly closing the cap and driving around will eventually turn the check engine light off. (Or you could use a scan tool to clear the code.)
