I have a 06 Toyota Avalon with 100k miles on it and the tires are wearing weirdly almost looks like it’s flaking on the outside part of my front tires. I was told it could need struts and shocks if that’s the case can anyone recommend me a good replacement brand? I don’t want to get them too cheap where they ride rough but I also don’t want the most expensive. I thought about getting them from eBay motors but I’m not too sure.
Scotty has recommended KYB struts on several occasions. But don't just go off and buy new struts because someone told you 'they might be the replaced'. Bad struts can cause what you're describing. However, improper toe-in, castor or camber can easily cause uneven/irregular tire wear. Although good alignment mechanics are harder and harder to find these days, that's really who you want to check your car. Have such a mechanic check the struts, mounts, ball joints, control arms - the entire front end. If he finds nothing then you might be able to resolve the issue with an alignment.
