You need a good mechanic to give it a thorough examination before purchase to get a true idea of its condition. The car is already 19 years old but if maintained in good condition it should be able to go at least a few more years without major problems. Don't expect a car that old to be completely trouble-free though, there are likely to be wear items and age-related deterioration to deal with going forward.

20 years is a long time, and it all depends on the condition of the vehicle. if you're not mechanically inclined then you absolutely need a mechanic to look it over for you. Otherwise you'll end up with a huge hole in your wallet.
