So I have a 2006 Toyota Tundra SR5 DC, 4x4, 4.7L w/~190k. The DS steering boot is torn and there is visible grease on the outside of the boot. It's the original rack and pinion. However, I have not observed it to leak anything. I placed paper towels under both DS and PS boots overnight, no drips. The PS reservoir remains unchanged. Steering feels absolutely fine, no grinding that I can perceive, there is a little play, but not bad. I expect the rack and pinion should be replaced eventually with a vehicle with this mileage, but is now the time? Or should I just replace the boot?

If it's working properly, replace the boot to keep the grease in.
