I have a 2007 Acura MDX with P1717 (Transmission Range switch) code with 121k
Seems like people were replacing those switch back when they were $70 or less, but they are now like $150 !
Since I've only seen this twice (in a week) and then gone, loose connection ? (do I disconnect battery before disconnecting), is just cable being stretch that need re-tightened (rotate sensor clockwise) or taken apart to clean the inside copper, or just bite the bullet and replace ?
try checking for a faulty transmission range switch, the transmission range switch harness is open or shorted,or if the transmission range switch circuit has a poor electrical connection. Look for the related wiring harness and connectors, and check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector's pins. Then take it to a mechanic that knows what he's doing. Hope that helps
thanks, that was the generic answer. I was hoping more for an answer on if a cable would stretch, or the inside can be cleaned up to last a while or something...
