Hello all, I have a 2007 Honda Accord EX with a V6 in the Memphis area. It currently has 190,550 miles on it, almost all highway. Since I have purchased it used in 2019, it has had an issue where when warm and idling, it would surge gradually to 1300 rpm and back down for 3-4 seconds. Ive noticed it also kinda does it when you rev it up in neutral or park and it stays in the 1300 rpm range for a second. It also sometimes jerks the car at a stop while in drive when cold. Some more info would be there appears to be some pooling of oil in the intake (not a whole lot), the long fuel trims would be in the +5.0 range but would vary, and the IAC always gives a rhythmic tick when the car is warm, but it clicks open and suck a lot of air in when the idle surges. Since I purchased it, the transmission has been rebuilt, the PCV valve replace very recently, new intake hose, new throttle sensor, and alternator and starter. This car has been in a moderate wreck, but never totaled. Any idea of what could be the cause? I can't seem to find any vacuum leaks or anything out of the ordinary besides what was stated above. This is my project car while im in college so I have no problem spending money on it.
From my understanding, your vehicle is probably running too lean. I would check the fuel pressure and the fuel injectors. The air/fuel ratio is off.
Thanks so much! I don't know if putting fuel system cleaner worked at all, so ill take a look at them tomorrow.
Check for clogged or partially stuck open egr valve.
Thanks for the response! I forgot to add this, but I recently took my EGR valve off and it was pretty clean and it operated fine, and presented no codes.
