My wife drives a 2007 Honda Pilot. with 160K no check engine light or codes. She went out the other day and came right back in the house saying the pilot won't start. No problem the last time it was used. I went out and turned the key and it only made a click inside the pilot. I checked and charged up the battery, but still only a click. No cranking at all. I tried putting it into Neutral and the same thing.
I also tried jumping it....but still nothing. I tried hitting the starter with a chisel and a hammer....still nothing. I looked online and people said starter...others said it could be a relay and others said it could be the ignition switch.
I have had starters go bad before and they usually die slow. Not fine 1 day and nothing the next day.
How do I go about diagnosing the problem? I am not sure where to start. I have changed starters before, but like I said, they usually go bad slowly.
Any help and/or links to videos would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe
put 12V directly on the starter and see if it goes. See FAQ for more ideas.
