Rattle sound, trans fluid change

Hi,

Just purchased 07 Lexus with 167K miles runs good, shifts smoothly, quiet and comfortable. A few things to note, I notice a small 2 second rattle on startup, usually when car has not been driving for a few hours, but this appears to be 'normal' with those who have the same 2GR-FE engine that is possibly caused by the cams, should I be concerned? Another thing to note is, I have not seen any records of the transmission fluid drained/refilled, would it be okay to drain/fill or leave as is since it still shifts smoothly? One more thing, will Valvoline Max life ATFValvoline MaxLife Multi-Vehicle Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) work for the power steering since it appears to meet the requirements of Dexron III?

Thanks,

Chee

As far as the transmission is concerned, if u can visually inspect the fluid with a dipstick or if it doesn't have one look up how to check it. the fluid should be bright pink. if u see that it is black or has a burning smell to it. leave it be and hope u can get some life out of it. If the fluid is bright pink, u can leave it be for a little while. If it is slightly dirty you can change it. As far as the type of fluid I always put what the manufacturer put in because transmissions are very picky.
