Hello, I have a 2007 Nissan versa, 36K miles, the CVT transmission is failing, otherwise local garage says is apparently in great shape. The Nissan dealership wants $4 to $5k to replace transmission.
Do you recommend we spend the money to replace the transmission or would a better investment be to apply $5K towards a newer vehicle? We only use the Nissan for local driving.
Thanks for the advice, Murphy.
What are the symptoms of it failing?

Wow, 36,000 miles and you need a new transmission..
I don’t know about you but I’d not want to touch another one, if it went out again in another 36,000 miles.
Use the $5000 towards a good Corolla or Civic instead. That’s what I would do.
All the best.

Better to use the money and get a better vehicle.

36k miles and transmission is shot, this is why Scotty constantly rags on Nissan and their crappy transmissions. I'd spend the money and get a better car, non-turbo Honda Civic, or Toyota Corolla.
