Just recently bought a 07 pontiac g6 with 136k miles a week ago now about 138k miles and bought for $1700. It needed brake pads and rotors all the way around and a rear driver side brake caliper ( seized up ). Theres one problem I can't figure out exactly what it is. When the steering wheel is turned either way there is and audible pop in the front it does it in any gear usually if the steering wheel is turned atleast 1 turn. I'm wondering what the problem could be and what else to look at?
Tie rods likely but jack front up, check all suspension and cv joints. Scotty has vidy on this and very easy to check... basiclly grab parts and see if they can be forcibly moved around.
Mine does this too. I've replaced the sway bar links, tie rods, control arms/ball joints, and steering intermediate shaft. The only thing I haven't replaced is the strut. No play in either of the wheels. Hope this helps narrow it down, but quite honestly I think it's just a bad design.
