Hey Scotty,
A guy at work is looking to sell his 2008 jeep grand cherokee, diesel. Mercedes v6, 280k miles. $3500. Claims no rust and everything works. What have you heard about those vehicles?

Run away! You have a combination of already poor vehicle design from the Chrysler Group along with a Mercedes-Benz 3.0L V6 turbo diesel (OM642) which had numerous issues esp. at higher mileages. See link here (scroll down to issues - the issues were particularly bad pre-2010)

Anyhow, any repair work on that engine (esp. being a German diesel) will cost a ton of money, that when added all up will cost more than the vehicle is worth.
