I have a 2008 Prius touring and it has 234,000 miles on it. I talked to my local mechanic that specializes in Japanese imports and I told him that I wanted the transmission fluid changed because I’ve only had the car for about a year and I use it for doordash delivery. I want to make sure it is taken care of so it takes care of me. Anyways he said that they don’t recommend changing the fluid because it’s a sealed system and it’s nothing to worry about on most newer cars. This guy is great and I trust him. I would like your opinion as well.
The trans fluid should be changed about every 50,000 miles. If it hasn't been changed by now, it's too late.
Agree. Unless you had some previous service records it was changed, I would leave it
Go elsewhere and have it changed. Due to the mileage I would save the old fluid incase a problem comes up.
Take a look at these and see if you believe your mechanic.
