I have a 2008 Toyota Tundra 5.7 double cab, 4wd, with about 180,000 miles on it. The transmission fluid has never been changed in it, and I have been thinking about having it changed. Is this a good idea to do on such a high mileage transmission?
@mountainmanjoe
Thank you, somehow I missed that episode.
If the color of the fluid looks good I’d do it, full exchange, replace filter,
synthetic fluid.
if this was a GM vehicle I might reconsider.....
not everyone will agree with me, it’s a very controversial subject matter.
@oneimich
So it's a sealed unit. The dealership can do a fluid transfer for $299, which I don't mind paying since they have the machine to do it. I think I may go ahead and do it. Thanks for your comment.
I’m sure you could get it done at reputable repair shop for $200+
They just remove the transmission cooler line and run it into then machine.
If it's running fine, I would not, you might create a problem.
I have a 2005 Tacoma with 240K, fluid never changed, shifts very smoothly
Toyota’s are an exception to the rule when it comes to changing it.
There transmissions are superior to anything else out there.
just as long as the fluid doesn’t look dirty I’m fine with it.
