2008 Volkswagen GLI Sedan acceleration problem

Hey Scotty, I have just bought a used 2008 Volkswagen MK5 sedan GLI trim with a 2.0 turbo from a private party. The car runs fantastic with a six speed in the floor transmission, except a slight hesitation jerkiness problem during heavy acceleration, such as downshifting to pass a car. The spark plugs & high-pressure fuel pump have both been changed. It has thrown a couple of temporary check engine lights with no code to access later. I am thinking I either have a dirty fuel filter or a dirty/leaky injector as I do smell fuel under the hood when the AC or heater is on.

I am currently running cleaner through the system to try and remedy the situation. What do you think? Drew

Well pray that fixes it and also have the maf sensor tested they are notorious for going bad?

Am I on the right track thinking that it’s fuel related? The jerkiness under heavy acceleration is concerning but like I said the car runs fantastic otherwise. Thanks for the insight. Drew
