I found a 2009 Chevy Colbat with 130k miles, body good shape. Shifts ok. But owner says has small ticking, nothing major.

I have to make a two hour drive to just look at it.

Even if the ticking is coming from the valves, top of engine.

Could it still last a while. Like a few years. I can get valves adjusted. Only 130k I would hope it would last a few years

Would you rather fix this truck or buy this Colbat?

I have a 86 Chevy S10, 4x4 v6, 210k miles

Engine sounds good and shifts good

Needs a bit of work, but overall drives ok

Would you rather fix that, or go for a Chevy Colbat with 130k miles?

I know it’s hard to say if you haven’t looked at it.

But thereotically if it is the valves ticking, and it isn’t very loud. Could it still last a while? Does ticking damage internal parts of an engine?

I would not buy that car. Run away and find something else.

Fix (assuming it's not expensive repairs)
