Hi Scotty

Update changes the oil filter housing seals all good no leak good for another 260K!! Thanks Scotty
make sure there isn't an old filter gasket stuck on there and someone just double stacked them.
Well if it's not the filter word goes on itself the backside often has a gasket on it you got to take the whole assembly off and replace that
Thanks guys for sure not the filter. I also replaced that forgot to mention that. I’ll look further but seems like the oil filter housing may be the issue... I’ll report back if that indeed is the culprit. Thanks again!
For next time, you can also use a UV dye to pinpoint the source of the leak:

Problem you are having, I believe, is simply this:
… your oil filter mounts onto the base, … the base than, in turn, is mounting onto the engine block. That oil filter base is bolted to engine block with two (2) bolts. Between the engine block and filter base there are two different O-rings, … one round and one oval. These two O-rings fail and leak results. You need to change these two O-rings. It’s not a big job. All you have to do is, remove the spin-on oil filter, … then remove an oil filter cover that bolts on to the oil filter base, … then remove oil filter base.
Next, clean surfaces, remove old O-rings, install the new O-rings, bolt up on the filter base - use torque wrench (16 lbf-ft, important!), bolt on the oil filter cover, install a spin-on filter, add oil, … and you are done! No more oil leak in that area, …

… btw, check the oil filter base mating surface for straightness, … sometimes these warp over time for some reason. Just get a replacement if this is the case.

Yes that was the problem indeed. My generation CRV has 3 bolts attaching the oil filter housing. One bolt is directly in-line with the axle and is a pita to reach. Recommed removing the oil filter and the shield held on by two bolts. Other than the third bolt on top easy job. Made a 400 mile trip no leak. All’s well that ends well!!
Great! Happy motoring, …
