Hey everyone or just one person still not entirely sure how this webside works but i got myself a 2009 ford focus and it was used yes and has problems but scotty inspired me to work on cars but my main thought right now is that when i start it it has alternating rpms first slow but bigger jumps and then when it eigher warms up or whatever it does smaller faster jumps it also has a valve cover gasket leak pretty bad dont know if that will do anything to it or not what do you think? And thanks for the response ahead of time much love!
Today's engines are finicky when it comes to vacuum leaks. The leaking valve cover gasket can be a source for the bad idle characteristics. Plugged pcv system can also cause problems with oil consumption and driveability. I would start with replacing the valve cover gasket, cleaning the valve cover and address the pcv system. The pcv valve is around 50 on these units but I would try cleaning it first.
I hope this is helpful.
