Scotty,
I own a 2009 Honda Accord PZEV with 2.4L engine and 133K miles. As part of the PM I was going to replace the spark plugs. The OE spark plug listed for this PZEV car is NGK Laser Iridium DILZKR7B11GS #95710 which I have verified is in the vehicle. This spark plug much higher in cost than the ULEV Iridium plugs also listed for a 2009 Accord which are NGK ILZKR7B11S or Denso SXU22HCR11SA. At local auto stores it is approx. $27 for PZEV vs $15 for ULEV (prior to discounts or rebates). $108 for four vs $60.
I live in a county in PA which does not require emissions testing. If I replace with one of the ULEV spark plugs listed will I run into any issues in normal performance issues (excluding PZEV)? Or should I spend the extra $48 for the OE plugs?
Thanks,
Viberolla
P.S. I also own a 2006 Pontiac Vibe and 2005 Toyota Corolla. Hence the name Viberolla! Would not of thought of purchasing a Vibe until I saw your video on your Matrix. Very happy with both of these 1.8L Toyota drivetrain powered vehicles.
I would replace it with regular iridium spark plugs.
PZEV AND ULEV has nothing to do with spark plugs.
That is the emissions warranty that comes with a PZEV vehicle,
15 years or 150,000 miles on every emission part under the hood, (check engine light) which includes labor and diagnostic fees.
So, if your check engine light comes on within 15 years or 150,000 miles from new,
which ever comes first, it’s covered in full.
labor at any Honda Dealership.
