Hello, I have a 2009 Honda Civic automatic, with 150,000 miles. So the ac takes awhile to start cooling after turning it on. It usually takes around 10 minutes. I've noticed that when it starts cooling a hissing like noise can be heard from the vents, and then it goes away as soon as the cool air comes out.

Seeing as how the car is 14 years old you have most likely lost some refrigerant. At a minimum the system should be checked for leaks then evacuated and recharged with the correct amount of refrigerant. There may be other issues as well. Have a good AC technician check it out. (Not a dealer and not a chain shop.)
