Dear Scotty,

A very good friend of the family decided that she wanted a new car and gave us her old 2009 Nissan Murano which had 167,000 miles on it. the only problems that it had were it needed new tires. I had to replace the coils and spark plugs because the car nearly died on me 6 months ago and costed me $1300. Now every time I start the car I can smell exhaust fumes like gas coming from the rear tailpipes. I know that the CAT was replaced already and was told by the previous owner that the O2 sensor needs replacing. What am I to do since I don't want to spend too much money on this car for major repairs? I only want to spend the most $2500 on this car since it was a freebee (plus TTL)

I will tell you from experience that after 10 years these become endless money pits. I wouldn't even put $1500 into it if I were you because you will never get any of it back and once you fix one thing then something else will fail shortly after.
