Hi Scotty, I have a 2009 Scion XD with a manual gearbox and about 122k miles. For about a month or so now, usually in the morning, when I shift from second into third gear I hear and feel a rubbing/grinding sound in the gear lever.
Could this be related to gear synchros or is it a sign I need a new clutch? What do you recommend?

Check al your clutch adjustments first, including the reservoir fluid level. If this doesn't help, it could be the synchros are shot in the trans.

Rev it up a little when you shift. Try to be gentle with sticking in 3rd.
