Hi Scotty
I just bought a 2010 Honda Accord Ex after selling my 2012 mitsu lancer.
Im going to go ahead and drain and fill transmission fluid and do a brake flush. Trans fluid looks darker pink, but 1st owner said he never chnaged it.
Should I also drain and fill coolant and power steering for preventative maintenance?
Thannks! (all fluids will be honda oem btw)
Don't change the trans fluid yet!!! What is the mileage it might be too late to change it and you could mess up yout trans if you do. Please update us with the mileage asap. Have the coolant tested before you change it and same for the PS. You can check the PS fluid easily yourself and see if its dirty but depending on how dirty is what you need to do. If its really dirty you might want a shop to flush it if its not very dirty you can flush it yourself with a turkey baster and fresh fluid. PLEASE UPDATE WITH THE MILEAGE!
@jacksonishere
its only 60k miles
okay then you should be fine to change it out. Do you plan on doing any of this work yourself?
@jacksonishere
No, im taking it to the Honda dealer. So since im getting a new car with reasonable maintenance history, I should go ahead and change transmission, brake fluid, coolant? The steerings fine should I do power steering too? Thanks
DON'T have the dealer do any work on the car best off taking it to a good mechanic. That's the most expensive place to get it done and you're easily looking at 500$+ worth of work or more if all the fluids need changing which they all don't but still. Plus I've heard of dealership screwing up oil changes and shit so don't take it there. Take it to a good mechanic and at that mileage it all depends on how it was taken care of before you bought it. They could need changed or nothing could need changed but the shop will let you know. It'll save you money vs the dealer. So def change the trans fluid brake fluid should be fine at that mileage and PS might need it and coolant should be tested because it's only good for 100k miles or 5 years.

100% ^^^^^^^^^^^
@jacksonishere
price seems reasonable to be cost $190 for transmission drain and fill and brake flush (with oem honda fluid)
It's never too late to change transmission fluid, just don't flush it.
General rule when you get a used car is to swap out all the fluids. Use honda OE fluids.
