2010 Highlander low oil pressure light issue

I got a 2010 Highlander with 164k. The car was being driven the road today and the low oil pressure light randomly came on. While accelerating the car rattles and all. Now I’m debating whether I should get the car towed to the mechanic or that I put some oil in it drive it there safely. What are any recommendations?

If the engine is making bad noises the damage may already be done. If it's low on oil you can top it up and try starting it, but if noises persist don't risk running the engine any more until it's checked out by a mechanic. (On the other hand if it's not low on oil and the light has been coming on don't run the engine until a mechanic looks at it.)

Chuck thanks so much I appreciate that. The issue just started today and when you accelerate it rattles. I haven’t started the car yet or driven it but I did put in some oil. I hope I can get to a mechanic safe and sound. People have been telling me to get it towed and that’s where I’m stuck

Safest thing if it's making noise is to have it towed.

Got it thanks again!
